4TH INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL HERITAGE WORKSHOP COMPLETED (05-16.09.2022)

“Edirne Open Air Amphitheater Trains Future Architects: Cultural Heritage Workshop” organized by Trakya University Faculty of Architecture since 2017 has ended. The workshop, which opened its doors to the students of architecture faculties of universities abroad in 2019, attracted a significant number of participants from Europe and different countries of the world, especially from Sweden, Kosovo, Portugal, North Macedonia and Egypt, and architecture students from all over Turkey, met in the “open-air amphitheater” Edirne.

The theme of the "Cultural Heritage Workshop", which was organized for the fourth time this year, hosted by the Faculty of Architecture, was determined as "Cultural Route". Starting from the concept of the cultural route, the students carried out studies by monitoring Edirne's cultural routes and carried out studies on the creation of different cultural routes. Thirty-four of architect candidates from different universities of Europe and Balkan countries and Turkey participated in the workshop where online trainings, technical trips and workshops were held.

In the first week of two weeks period of the workshop, online trainings on the concept of cultural heritage, examples of cultural routes from the world and the cultural heritage of Edirne were given by expert academics from Portugal, Egypt, Sweden, North Macedonia, and Turkey. After the online trainings which was targeting the participants to know and understand the city with its different aspects before they arrival to Edirne, the workshop continued with face-to-face activities and programs.

Students from different architecture faculties in Turkey and abroad visited the historical places and cultural route of the city and gathered information for their workshops. In addition to theoretical information, the students got detailed information about Edirne's cultural assets and heritage with technical trips. They developed different idea projects through the workshop with the leadership of Beykent University Faculty of Architecture Faculty Member Prof. Dr. A. Nilay Evcil, Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Architecture lecturer Dr. Zeynel Abidin, Trakya University faculty members Dr. Gildis Tachir and Yaşagül Ekinci.

Organized for the 4th time this year by Trakya University Faculty of Architecture, the presentation of certificate of participation and closing ceremony of the "International Cultural Heritage Workshop" has completed.  Students and academicians attending the workshop got their certificates from; Edirne Governor H. Kürşat Kırbıyık, Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. H. Burcu Özgüven and Şehit Ressam Hasan Rıza Vocational College of Fine Arts Director Assoc. Dr. Semiha Kartal.
